St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in East Hampton will host a Zoom talk from London by Bianca Jagger on the topic of human rights. Her talk will take place on Thursday, December 10, at 2 p.m. To reserve a Zoom link, attendees should visit stlukeseasthampton.org.
“I am delighted that Bianca accepted our invitation to be a speaker to people throughout Long Island on a subject of such contemporary importance,” said her friend, East Hampton’s Jeffrey Sussman. “Bianca has committed her life to defending human rights, civil liberties, peace, social justice, and environmental protection throughout the world.”
Jagger campaigns to end violence against women and girls, to abolish capital punishment and advocates for the rights of indigenous peoples and future generations. She is founder, president and chief executive of the Bianca Jagger Human Rights Foundation (BJHRF), which she established in 2005 to be a force for change and a voice for the most vulnerable. She is also the Council of Europe Goodwill Ambassador, a member of the Executive Director’s Leadership Council for Amnesty International USA, and IUCN Bonn Challenge Ambassador.
Jagger is also the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including The Right Livelihood Award (2004) also known as the “alternative Nobel prize.”
