The Suffolk welcomes Rites of Spring Music Festival with “Celebrating the North Fork,” a concert featuring Long Island Concert Orchestra, on Monday, June 16, at 7:30 p.m.
Rites of Spring Music Festival has quickly become the premier classical and contemporary music festival on the North Fork. In this 10th edition, the festival is devoted to contemporary sounds in a setting that engages the community and invites the listener to participate on many levels. The organization believes great music works best in a unique environment.
This year, Rites of Spring pays homage to the North Fork by showcasing its artistic expressions and working practices in its many venues. Given the North Fork’s rich maritime and agricultural traditions with its multiple cultures and practices, the Rites of Spring Music Festival highlights this distinctive terroir through the music and rhythms of this unique community.
The evening will feature Long Island Concert Orchestra, a dynamic and powerful orchestra of talented musicians, presenting a program of music by Mozart, Shor, Taralli and Copland — music that aims to celebrate the winemaking and agricultural traditions of the North Fork accompanied by a wine tasting during the evening.
Tickets are $45 to $79 at thesuffolk.org. The Suffolk is at 118 East Main Street in Riverhead.
