Michele D’Ermo, a New York and Hamptons-based artist, has several works in the exhibition “For the Love of Painting” at Folioeast in East Hampton. The show runs through Tuesday, December 10, and also features recent paintings by Shari Abramson and Janet Jennings. In her work, D’Ermo melds together the land, water and skies in an abstracted way through rich colors and ambient light.

According to D’Ermo, “Art and nature are so close together it is impossible to say what comes first. Nature allows me to rely on impulse — it is my teacher, but I allow for the mystery of art to unfold.”

“For the Love of Painting” is on view at Folioeast’s off-season space at Malia Mills, 55 Main Street, East Hampton. A cocktail reception with the artists will be held on Friday, November 29, from 5 to 7 p.m.
