This summer, LTV Studios will launch a new series, Friday Family Frolics, on various Fridays. This fantastical festival of fresh frivolity, feisty foolery and fabulous fun will take place three times throughout the summer, featuring whimsical and unique pop-up performances — a great way for families to kick off the weekend with a big laugh and a surprising adventure, conveniently timed for an early dinner following the show. Tickets for each show are $20 in advance at ltveh.org or $25 at the door. LTV is at 75 Industrial Road in Wainscott.
The Schedule:
Friday, July 19, at 5 p.m. — Goat on a Boat Puppet Theatre’s “The Chicken Show & Puppet Making Workshop” written, created and performed by Liz Joyce and a Couple of Puppets. Directed by Terry Snyder with music by Ken Hopson and Liz Joyce.
Henrietta, the singing chicken, longs to be a star on Broadway but the Mean Ol’ Farmer is going to put her in a stew if she doesn’t produce an egg by morning. Find out how Henrietta, with the help of her friends, learns to believe in herself to make her dreams come true.
A 35 minute performance for all ages with rod puppets and costumed characters followed by an interactive 40-minute puppet-making crafts workshop.
Friday, August 16, at 5 p.m. — Johnny Peers and the Muttville Comix. A slapstick comedy act like no other, Peers leads over a dozen dogs through challenging and hilarious tricks as he plays the straight (hu)man role to a pack of zany, scene-stealing pooches in this wonderful, silly romp.
A Ringling Brothers Clown College graduate, Peers has been working with dogs since he got his first puppy, Freckles, a beagle mix, from the Humane Society. Since their debut, the Muttville Comix have appeared on “David Letterman,” “Primetime Live” and “Circus of the Stars”; and at Disneyland, Busch Gardens, the Big Apple Circus, the Royal Hanneford Circus, even The White House.
A show for the whole family and the dog lover in all of us, it stars mostly dogs rescued from shelters or pounds, like Sandy the ladder climbing Jack Russell Terrier and Girl, the Poodle mix who only answers to “Girl.”
Friday, August 30, at 5 p.m. — Jeff Boyer’s Big Bubble Bonanza is a highly accessible show that appeals to a diversity of cultures and all ages. His sensory friendly performances and workshops serve as an entry point for people who previously felt excluded from the world of theater. Boyer brings universal accessibility to the theater world and encourages members of local communities to feel deep levels of interconnection and wholeness. He wows audiences internationally with bubbles, science and comedy.
