Actor and author Josh Pais will appear at the Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor on Sunday, October 12, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for a reading and signing of his newly released book, “Lose Your Mind: The Path to Creative Invincibility.”

A longtime Sag Harbor resident, Pais is known for his roles in “Ray Donovan,” “Joker,” and Netflix’s “A Man in Full.” In “Lose Your Mind,” published by Hay House, Pais explores the creative process from a unique perspective — linking subatomic physics with emotional embodiment to offer a new framework for achieving what he calls “creative invincibility.”

Drawing on lessons from his unconventional upbringing — his father was a quantum physicist who worked alongside Albert Einstein — as well as decades of professional acting and teaching, Pais presents a blend of science, spirituality and practical tools for unlocking creativity.

The book challenges conventional self-help approaches that advocate silencing the inner critic, instead encouraging readers to harness all emotional energy — positive or negative — as creative fuel. Through his Committed Impulse Training, a method he’s taught at NYU and to corporate and creative professionals for years, Pais helps individuals turn inspiration into action.

In addition to being an instructional guide, “Lose Your Mind” offers vivid and humorous storytelling, with scenes from Pais’s youth in Manhattan’s Alphabet City in the 1970s to behind-the-scenes moments from his career in film and television.

Known for showcasing artists who paint exclusively from life, the Grenning Gallery shares Pais’s belief in creativity as a response to the world rather than an imitation of it. Gallery director Laura Grenning noted the alignment between Pais’s creative philosophy and the gallery’s founding mission.

“Josh’s insights into the creative process in ‘Lose Your Mind’ reflect exactly what we value — authenticity, presence and a direct connection to the energy of the subject,” Grenning said.

This special evening will include a reading, signing and cocktail reception, giving attendees the opportunity to meet the author and hear his stories in person. Copies of the book will be available for purchase. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are invited to RSVP by emailing info@grenninggallery.com. Grenning Gallery is at 26 Main Street in Sag Harbor.
