Hampton Theatre Company will hold auditions for “Picnic” by William Inge at the Quogue Community Hall on Jessup Avenue in Quogue on Sunday, August 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. and Monday, August 17, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
“Picnic,” Mr. Inge’s Pulitzer Prize-winning classic, explores love, lust, loneliness and disillusionment in small-town America in a more innocent time. The play has come to be regarded as a pioneering drama for its depiction of sexuality and its subliminally cynical take on the “love conquers all” theory.
The play has roles for seven women and four men. Rehearsals will begin after Labor Day, with performances running from October 22 through November 8 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons at the Quogue Community Hall. George Loizides will direct.
Auditioners will be asked to read from the script. No appointment or monologue is necessary, but all are invited to bring a head shot and resume, if applicable. Alternate times will be arranged, if possible, for auditioners who are unable to attend the prearranged audition times.
