“Psycho” – Tuesday, October 21, 7:30 p.m.
Alfred Hitchcock’s seminal slasher film “Psycho” returns to the Playhouse for the first time since 1960, as part of the ongoing series curated by Martin Scorsese and his daughter, Francesca Scorsese. The screening will be accompanied by cocktails from the new book “Hitchcocktails” by WLIW host Larry Maslan. Maslan will present the film, discuss the film-themed drinks in his book, and offer insights into the legacy of the classic, which originally screened at the Playhouse 65 years ago.
“Dracula” (1931, Spanish-language version) – Tuesday, October 28, 7:15 p.m.
In collaboration with Cinema Tropical, the Playhouse will host a screening of the 1931 Spanish-language version of “Dracula.” The story follows clerk Renfield, who soon discovers his new employer, Count Dracula, is a vampire. Under Dracula’s spell, Renfield assists the vampire’s move to London, where Dracula begins a reign of terror and sets his sights on the lovely Eva. Her fiancé, Juan Harker, and Professor Van Helsing must work together to stop him.
“Scream” – Wednesday, October 29, 7:30 p.m.
Presented alongside a signing of the new book “Your Favorite Scary Movie” by author Ashley Cullins, the meta-horror favorite “Scream” screens at the Playhouse with special guests in attendance. A Q&A with Cullins and “Scream” producer Cary Woods will follow the screening.
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” 50th anniversary screening – Thursday, October 30, 9:30 p.m.
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” returns to the big screen. After a flat tire leaves them stranded, newly engaged couple Brad and Janet stumble upon the bizarre mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, where they are swept into an unforgettable night of elaborate dance, rock music and strange scientific experiments.
