Lisa Lampanelli, the comic who’s been called the Queen of Mean, will present a staged reading of “Stuffed” at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor on Saturday, June 25, in advance of the official premiere of the play this fall at Women’s Project Theater off-Broadway.
Written by and starring Ms. Lampanelli, “Stuffed” is about “food, fat, and fearlessness.” It’s the first of four plays she is writing about issues important to women.
Four women will deliver monologues on different problems concerning weight, body image and food issues, and the characters will interact as well.
In addition to Ms. Lampanelli, the cast includes Orlagh Cassidy, Jessica Luck and Zuzanna Szadkowski. Jackson Gay directs.
“Weight is a dominant issue in all of our lives, whether you can’t lose it or can’t keep it on,” Bay Street Artistic Director Scott Schwartz said in a statement. “Our love/hate relationship to food is as complex and passionate as that with our most intense lover. I can’t wait to see the brilliant Lisa Lampanelli and her cast sink their teeth into this issue—pun definitely intended!—for a night of comedy, pathos, and empowerment.”
