Our Fabulous Variety Show (OFVS) is offering acting and dance workshop classes that will culminate in its spring production of “Neverlanded,” an original work created by OFVS. The production will be presented at LTV Studios in Wainscott and is a musical retelling of “Peter Pan” featuring work created by the show’s directors and students. Classes begin the week of January 16 and run 11 weeks.
The Peter Pan-inspired acting classes will be held every Monday from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. for ages 5 to 7, and every Tuesday from 5 to 6 p.m. for ages 8 to 10. Students will learn the foundations of acting and the art of storytelling using their voices, bodies and imaginations. “Neverlanded” song and dance classes will be held on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for ages 5 to 7 and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for ages 8 to 10. These Peter Pan-inspired dance classes will teach the foundation of several genres of dance including jazz, tap, hip hop and ballet and the art of storytelling through dance. Students are encouraged to enroll in both the acting and dance classes to learn the scenes, songs and dances for the show. A discounted “bundle” rate is available when registering for both classes.
OFVS’ mission is to create accessible, innovative cultural arts experiences and to bridge the arts opportunity gap by cultivating inclusive arts experiences for all. Founded in 2010 by Anita Boyer and Kasia Klimiuk, OFVS is a nonprofit performance and arts education organization that produces productions from full scale to showcase, and provides educational performing arts programming to the community.
