Samite’s stories are inherently dramatic — filled with humor and insight inspired by his grandfather’s wisdom and the people he meets.

They are powerful enough for a one-man show, which the musician will bring to Guild Hall on Friday, July 13, in “Lessons of Humanity: What My Grandfather Taught Me,” based on his work with refugees and survivors of war around the globe.

A former refugee from Uganda, Samite works with child soldiers in East Africa to cancer survivors in the United States, “delivering universal healing power through music,” according to a press release. He fled during the oppressive rule of Milton Obote, a brutal dictatorship that has informed his music and led to his humanitarian work with the non-profit organization Musicians for World Harmony, which he founded in 2002.

The performance will start at 8:30 p.m. Tickets range from $22 to $55, or $20 to $53 for members. For more information, call (631) 324-4050 or visit guildhall.org.
