As an artist, Mr. Mizzi draws his inspiration from many sources and artistic schools. His work is found in many private collections both in North America and in Europe. Because Mr. Mizzi believes that human spirit transcends all forms, he enjoys expression through surrealism. By seamlessly blurring, and breaking the boundaries between dreams and reality, surrealist styles make the idiosyncratic conventional and turn the established and confined traditions on their head. At the same, much of his work is rooted in the natural world celebrated on the East End.

Mr. Mizzi’s work has been published in Time magazine, for Bantam Books, Embassy Pictures, in Newsday, for the New York City Opera National Company, and for Norton Books and Barnes and Noble, among others. He has exhibited in auctions by Christies Rome, the Museo del Risorgimento in Rome, the Exhibit of Maltese Contemporary Art in Malta, at the National Museum of Fine Arts and at The White Room Gallery in Bridgehampton.

Challenging traditional definitions of representation while mining the universal code he has found in the stars, Torreano distills the intangible mystery of the cosmos by translating outer space into painterly space.
