This Year’s Beach-Themed Halsey House Gala Is Saturday, July 8

author on Jun 23, 2017

Guests at this year’s Halsey House Gala will toast to the summer ahead amid a beachside atmosphere, sunset cocktails and a blooming herb garden.

This year’s gala theme is “sur la plage,” which translates to “on the beach,” fitting for a summer celebration in the Hamptons. The lawn party will take place at Southampton’s oldest home, the Thomas Halsey Homestead on South Main Street. The evening includes dancing to music provided by DJ Twilo, locally sourced hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction offering a cocktail cruise on a wooden sailboat, work by local artists, baskets of organic produce and a private supper inside the Halsey House.

Proceeds raised at the event will support the preservation of the Halsey House, which was built in 1660 when Main Street was first established. It is believed to be the oldest English-style house in New York State, and is filled with 17th and 18th century furnishings donated by local families.

“Our honorary chair Steven Stolman has enhanced the festive atmosphere with a beach theme, new food and a bountiful gift bag,” said Historical Museum executive director Tom Edmonds. “Neck ties and high heels are not encouraged. This party is the most fun you will have all summer!”

The gala will take place Saturday, July 8, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tickets are $150 in advance or $175 at the door. Or, for guests age 16 to 30, tickets are $50. Age 15 and under are $20. For tickets, call 631-283-2494 or visit southamptonhistoricalmuseum.org.
