Local author Tom Clavin will conduct writing workshops for beginners and intermediate writers beginning April 21 in Amagansett and Montauk.
The beginner workshop will run for eight weeks, through June 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday nights at the Fort Pond House on Second House Road in Montauk.
The intermediate workshop, designed for writers who are already working on writing projects, will run for eight weeks on Monday nights, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the Applied Arts Center on Indian Wells Highway in Amagansett. Sharing works in progress will be a key component of the intermediate sessions.
Writers working on memoirs, narrative nonfiction, young adult projects and fiction, or those intending to do so, are welcome.
When appropriate, Mr. Clavin will cite examples from his own writings, including his books “Dark Noon: The Final Voyage of the Fishing Boat Pelican,” “Halsey’s Typhoon: The True Story of a Fighting Admiral, an Epic Storm, and an Untold Rescue” and “We Will Hold,” a nonfiction book about a company of Marines in the Korean War set to be published by the Atlantic Monthly Press in December.
There is a limit of eight participants in each workshop, and the fee for the eight-week session is $100.
