Betsy (née Rossoff) Greenberg Stevenson of Sagaponack died on September 28 at New York University Medical Center in New York City, from complications of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. She was 79.
Born February 1, 1929, in New York City to Rose and Irving Rossoff, she was raised in New York City and Munsey Park. She attended the Fieldston School in the Bronx and then Syracuse University.
A harpist, she was trained by eminent musician Carlos Salzedo. She also enjoyed playing the piano and gardening.
She is survived by three sons, Lee Greenberg of Bridgehampton, Andrew Greenberg of New York City, and Daniel Greenberg of Garrison, New York; a daughter, Katherine Gabbay of Connecticut; a sister, Miriam Eisen of Riverdale; two grandsons, Will and Philip Greenberg; and four granddaughters, Emma and Julia Greenberg and Anna and Natasha Gabbay. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruce Stevenson, and a sister, Gertrude Kleinman, last year.
A memorial service, officiated by Rabbi Leon Morris, will be held on Saturday, October 4, at 2 p.m., at the Stevenson residence in Sagaponack.
