Carolyn Ann (Longnecker) Parker, formerly of Wainscott, died on July 11 at New Pond Village in Walpole, Massachusetts, where she had resided since 2011. She was 92.
She was born in Bridgehampton on May 8, 1931, to Joseph and Margaret Longnecker. She graduated as valedictorian from Bridgehampton High School in 1949.
She married Bob Parker in 1951 and raised her three children in Wainscott.
She was a lifelong, active member of Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Bridgehampton. She was a member of the Wainscott Sewing Society, and enjoyed walking, spending time with friends and family, and reading. She loved swimming at Long Beach in Noyac —her grandchildren affectionately refer to it as “Nana’s Beach.” Over the years, she traveled with her husband and friends throughout the United States.
Parker enjoyed a 23-year career at W.C. ESP in billing and collections and retired at the age of 80.
After retirement, she moved to New Pond Village in Walpole, to be closer to her family. She enjoyed the amenities of independent living, including activities, outings, and committees, and made many close friends.
She was predeceased by her husband William Robert Parker; her brothers, Joseph Longnecker and James Donahue; and her nephews James and Joseph Longnecker. She is survived by her three children, Diane Parker of Nashua, New Hampshire, Joanne Estabrook of Walpole, Bill Parker and his wife Anne of Franklin, Massachusetts; three grandchildren, Emma, Michael and Christine; and two great-grandchildren Rylee and Colin.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers of New Pond Village, Old Colony Hospice, and Brockett’s Funeral Home for their exceptional kindness and care.
A Celebration of Life was held at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton on July 15, and she was laid to rest at Edgewood Cemetery in Bridgehampton.
Donations in her memory may be sent to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
