Charlotte Beckwith
Charlotte Beckwith of East Hampton died at Southampton Hospital on Tuesday, March 1. She was 79.
Born August 4, 1931, in the Bronx to Dominick and Charlotte Caggana, she graduated from Yonkers High School. Ms. Beckwith was a bank manager and gave much of her time to the community. She was head of local blood drives from the late 70s to early 80s, a member of the Springs Fire Department Auxiliary, a member of the Korean Veterans Association, and was involved with the East Hampton Community Council.
In her spare time, she loved to play bingo and cards. She will be sorely missed, survivors said.
Ms. Beckwith was predeceased by her husband, Erwin Beckwith; sister, Marie Beckwith; and brother, Michael Caggana. She is survived by her children, James Beckwith and Charlene Osterberg, both of East Hampton; nieces and nephews, Linda Palmer, Carol Bradley, Emily Grunewald and Bruce Hulse, all of East Hampton, and Gail McManus of Florida; two grandchildren, Linda and Katrina Osterberg; seven great-nieces and great-nephews; and eight great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 12, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton.
Memorial donations to the Springs Fire Department and Ambulance, 179 Fort Pond Blvd., East Hampton, NY 11937, and Dominican Sisters Family Health Services, P.O. Box 678, Wainscott, NY 11975 would be appreciated by the family.
