Former East Hampton resident Susan V. Whitney of Blairstown, New Jersey, died on January 25 at her home. A former director for the Town of East Hampton Department of Human Services Adult Day Care Program, she was 64.
She was born on January 21, 1946, in Paisley, Scotland, to Jacob Van Strien and Susan (née Smith) Strien. She earned a master’s degree in philosophy from Columbia University, a bachelor’s degree from Marymount, and graduated from Mount Sinai College as a registered nurse.
She is survived by her husband, Chris Whitney of East Hampton; two sons, Patrick Whitney of East Hampton and Jacob Whitney of Pennsylvania; a niece, Veronica Whitney; and a nephew, Henry Whitney.
Memorial services are planned for a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home.
