Former Wainscott resident Robert E. Sargent dies at 80

Former Wainscott resident Robert E. Sargent of Holly Springs, North Carolina, died on September 9 at Lenoir Memorial Hospital in Kinston, North Carolina. He was 80.

Born November 14, 1929, to Margaret and Robert Sargent of Sagaponack, he attended Bridgehampton High School. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

A mason for many years, he was a member of the Bridghampton Presbyterian Church and served on many committees. According to his family, he enjoyed playing golf in his free time.

He is survived by two daughters, Donna and her husband Harry Halsey of Bridgehampton, and Darlene Sargent of Fairport, New York; a son, Kevin
Sargent of North Carolina;
and eight grandchildren. His wife, Barbara L. Sargent; and
a son, Glenn Sargent, predeceased him.

Services were private.
