Jacqueline Eurell Dies At 83

Jacqueline L. Knowlan Eurell (née Crosier) of Baldwinville, Massachusetts, and longtime resident of Montauk died surrounded by family at the Baldwinville Nursing Home on Thursday, November 24. She was 83.

Born in New York City on August 5, 1928, to Joseph Crosier and Madeline Crosier (née Chapman), she graduated from W.C. Mepham High School in Bellmore and, from 1971 to 1989, she worked for the Bank of the Hamptons, eventually becoming its manager. She later worked for the Bank of New York as a manager from 1990 to 1996. She was also a trustee of the American Institute of Banking and continued her education by taking courses in banking in later years.

For many years she was a very dedicated member of the Montauk Community Church. She held many offices including deacon, elder, clerk of session, Sunday school teacher and treasurer. Every Sunday, for many years, she arranged flowers for church services and was a faithful choir member.

In July 2003, she moved to Baldwinville, where she attended Memorial Congregational Church.

Ms. Eurell also enjoyed traveling, and had visited Cuba twice as a mission community member. An avid bowler, she attended many local, state and national tournaments.

She is survived by children, Jacquelyn “Pat” Cidlowski and her husband Joel of Montauk, Barbara A. Woodbury and her husband George of Massachusetts, Susan Hupka of Maryland, Carol Ganter and her husband Richard of Massachusetts, Deborah Leger and her husband Ariste of Canada, Christine Sontag and her partner Mark Palombo of Massachusetts, James Knowlan and his wife Joanne of Montauk, Edward Eurell and his wife Theresa of Montauk, Michael Eurell and his wife Lynn of Virginia; siblings, Maryann Schill and her husband Ted of North Carolina, Joan Walther and her husband Allen of Bellmore, Robert Crosier and his wife Cynthia of North Carolina, 15 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two adopted grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Gerald Knowlan; two grandsons, Jason Woodbury and Jon Cidlowski; and a sister, Madeline Waltz.

A funeral service was held Saturday, December 3, at Memorial Congregational Church in Massachusetts. Interment followed at Greenlawn Cemetery in Baldwinville. The date for a memorial service at the Montauk Community Church will be announced.
