Lifelong East Hampton resident Joan E. Steele died on July 10 at her home in East Hampton. She was 71.
Born September 15, 1936, in Southampton, she was the only child of Florence E. (née Ross) and Arthur T. Steele. A 1954 graduate of East Hampton High School, she worked as a receptionist for Astorr & Vaughn Dentists for 32 years. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxilary.
She is survived by a son, Stephen A. Steele Sr. of East Hampton and four grandchildren.
Visitation was on July 13 at the Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in East Hampton. A graveside service was held on July 14 at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in East Hampton.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Legion, 15 Montauk Highway, East Hampton, NY 11937, or East Hampton Village Ambulance Association, 1 Cedar Street, East Hampton, NY 11937, would be appreciated by the family.
