Lanny Ross
Longtime East Hampton resident Lanny Ross died at his home on November 14 after returning from a long weekend in Florida, which is what he called his “second home.” He was 51.
Born July 30, 1959, at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport to Doris (née Johnston) and Lester Ross, he grew up in East Hampton, attending Springs School and East Hampton High School.
Mr. Ross worked at the Suffolk County Water Authority for more than 30 years, and for the last two years was a heavy equipment operator out of the Westhampton facility. He was also a dedicated member of the Amagansett Fire Department for 30 years, serving in many capacities, including chief.
His life passions were hunting and golf, according to his family.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Sherri Ross; a daughter, Hilary Ross; and a stepdaughter, Jennifer deGroof. Interment was held at Green River Cemetery in Springs.
