Leandro S. Galban Jr. of Sagaponack died on July 5.
Born in 1934 and a 1956 graduate of Harvard College, he was a member of the President’s Council of the Peconic Land Trust and the Sagaponack Village Zoning Board of Appeals.
Mr. Galban joined and then became a general partner in the investment firm of Wood, Struthers & Winthrop, and when it merged with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette in 1977, he became the managing director and co-chief of the firm’s financial institutions group, a position he held until 1999.
He joined Credit Suisse First Boston in 2000 and, at the time of his death, was chairman of Global Financial Services for FLJMB in Alternative Investments, based in New York. Mr. Galban was internationally respected in the business community, especially for his integrity and expertise relating to the insurance industry.
He is survived by his wife, Beverley; three children, Anthony S. Galban, Leandro S. Galban III and Fr. Timothy S. Galban; and three grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Agnes S. Galban and Victoria S. Galban, and two brothers, Luis S. Galban and Eugenio S. Galban.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 11, at 10 a.m., at the Queen of the Most Holy Rosary Church in Bridgehampton. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Peconic Land Trust would be appreciated by the family.
