Pauline M. Garbowski
Pauline M. Garbowski of Southampton died at Peconic Bay Medical Center on Sunday, September 11. She was 79.
Known as “Mushy” to her family and “Bam” to her grandchildren, Ms. Garbowski was born to Daniel Kromer and Regina (née Fortuna) Kromer in her home on North Magee Street and lived there until her death.
Ms. Garbowski and her husband Mike were married for 47 years and worked together at the Bulova Watch Company in Sag Harbor for more than 30 years. Her most recent employment was at Southampton Hospital as a food service worker until her retirement.
Ms. Garbowski loved her family dearly and was loved by all who knew her for her kindness and concern for others, survivors said. A member of Our Lady of the Hamptons Church in Southampton, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family’s needs in front of her own.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Dosch and her husband Peter, and Laura Keenan and her husband Michael of Southampton; her brother, Pete Kromer of Amagansett; two grandchildren, Samantha and Joe Dosch; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Michael Garbowski of Sag Harbor; and six siblings, Olga Lachcik, Katherine Herman, Stella Pietronowicz, Al Pietronowicz, Victor Kromer, and Andrew Pietronowicz.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 13, at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, September 14, at Our Lady of Poland Roman Catholic Church in Southampton. Interment followed at Sacred Hearts Roman Catholic Cemetery in Southampton.
