Rosaria Edith Bernard, a resident of Amagansett for 58 years, died on August 20 at her home. She was 89.

Born August 9, 1919, in Brooklyn 
to Lucia (née Avallone) and 
Candido Iorio, she attended Jamaica High School in Queens, and was 
later employed as an electrical worker for Sag Harbor Industries.

Predeceased by her husband, Leonard Bernard, in 1987, and a sister, Mae Misa, she is survived by a son, Leonard Bernard Jr. of Amagansett; a daughter, Lucy Bernard Yardley of Sag Harbor; three sisters, Sylvia Mannix of East Hampton, Norma Ferraro of Lake Grove and Emily Valentino of Virginia; and a brother, Amedeo Iorio of New Jersey.

A funeral mass was held on August 25 at Most Holy Trinity Church in East Hampton; interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton.

In lieu of flowers, donations to East End Hospice, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978 or Amagansett Fire and Ambulance Squad, P.O. Box 470, Amagansett, NY 11930 would be appreciated by the family.
