Sharon Bistrian
Sharon Elizabeth Bistrian of East Hampton, owner of Bistrain’s Sweet Corn farm stand, died at her home on Tuesday, February 28. She was 60.
Born October 28, 1951, in Southampton to Sydney Dimon Payne and Shirley Marie Lester Payne, she attended East Hampton High School and started working as a hairdresser for a family in Amagansett. For the past 10 years, she ran a hair salon out of her home. She worked as a hairstylist for 40 years.
Ms. Bistrian may be most known, however, as the “Corn Lady” on the corner of Cedar Street and North Main Street. For nearly 40 years she and her family sold sweet corn from their garden to passersby.
She is survived by her mother, Shirley Payne of Amagansett; her husband, Michael Neal Bistrian of East Hampton; a son, Brian Christopher Bistrian of East Hampton; and siblings, Sidney Herbert Payne of South Carolina, Wesley Bennett Payne of Albany, Larry Allen Payne of Mastic, and Allison Maire Lupo of Amagansett; two grandchildren and 19 nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Friday, March 2, at Oak Grove Cemetery in Amagansett.
