A memorial service for tennis great Sidney Burr Wood, a longtime Southampton resident, will be held on Saturday, May 30, at 5 p.m., at St. Andrew’s Dune Church in Southampton.

Mr. Wood, whose East End roots go back to childhood summers in East Hampton and playing tennis at the Meadow Club in Southampton as a teenager, died January 10 under hospice care in Palm Beach, Florida, where he resided part-time. He was 97.

Memorial donations to Hospice of Palm Beach County, 5300 East Avenue, West Palm Beach, Florida or International Tennis Hall of Fame, 194 Bellevue Avenue, Newport, RI 02840 would be appreciated by the family.
