2024 SCRABBLE "FUN"Raiser to benefit the Hampton Bays Middle School SCRABBLE Teams attending North American School SCRABBLE Championship in Washington, DC
WHEN: Sunday, March 17, noon - 4:30pm
WHERE: Hampton Bays Middle School Cafeteria, Ponquogue Ave, Hampton Bays
Do you play SCRABBLE or its younger sibling WORDS WITH FRIENDS? Then join the Hampton Bays Middle School SCRABBLE Club at the 2024 Annual SCRABBLE “FUN”Raiser tournament at noon on Sunday, March 17, at the Hampton Bays Middle School Cafeteria. The money raised will help pay for the Club's trip to the 2024 North American School SCRABBLE Championship (NASSC) in Washington, DC. The suggested donation is $15 per person/$30 per team pre-registered; $20 per person/$40 per team at door and includes lunch.
This isn't your typical SCRABBLE tourney... you will play 3 games as a team. Teams can be 2 students, 2 adults or a combo. No partner, no worries--one can be found for you. Open to the community. Pre-register and receive special word lists and playing tips. Bring extra cash because you'll be able to buy a vowel, pay to sneak a peek at the word list or get a tip from an expert. You don't have to be a "good" speller--you just have to want to have a good time for a good cause.
You can sign up at the door or pre-register with Kathy Hummel at 631-872-8434 or jkkhum@aol.com
This year's NASSC competitors are: 8th Graders Elizabeth Maroulas, Issac Mack, Ana Perez and 6th Grader Sam Mack. These competitors will be joined at the New England School SCRABBLE Championship on March 9 in Ridgefield, CT by 8th Grader Jack Owens.
Can't make the tourney but still want to help? Contact Kathy Hummel at 631-872-8434 or jkkhum@aol.com about sponsorships and donations.
