“Abstracting Nature” – In this hands-on drawing workshop, participants will explore and experience the process of abstracting from the natural world. Work with the concepts of rhythm, mark, shape, texture, scale, and composition. Participants will use a variety of materials, including pencil, charcoal, and ink. The emphasis will be on working quickly, making many small drawings. Experimentation will be encouraged as we work towards the goal of creating images that capture the characteristics or essence of the landscape we are observing, without being naturalistic representations of it.
