Big changes are here at Wittendale's Florist and Greenhouses Inc.in East Hampton, where a new expanded native plant selection is featured this season! Volunteer master gardeners from ReWild Long Island will be on site to talk native plants this month. Follow the new signs and banners to the native plant section and meet the master gardeners on Saturday, May 17, noon-3PM and Friday, May 23, 10AM-noon. Everyone's welcome to ask questions and compare notes about conserving water, reducing turf lawns and selecting hardy colorful native perennials, grasses and ferns for sun or shade.
Wittendale’s is open Monday-Saturday 9AM-6PM and Sundays 9AM-2PM. When the ReWild experts aren't on site, there will be plenty of plants with the green and red "Native to Long Island" label and informative signage. A comprehensive printed booklet offers detailed information about the native plants in stock and how they benefit and attract our local pollinators. As the season progresses, Wittendale’s native plant inventory and displays will change to highlight late spring, summer and fall blooming plants and shrubs.
