The mission of The Great Give Back is to provide a day or more of opportunities for the patrons of the Public Libraries of New York State to participate in meaningful, service-oriented experiences. In partnership with our community members, we are asking for your help in giving to our neighbors in need during this time. We will collect items to give to two local organizations from October 12 – 17:
Maureen’s Haven in Riverhead assists with providing homeless men and women with supportive services, access to case management and programs, and a safe place to stay during the winter months. They are partnering with Blaze Church in Flanders to help the homeless in our area.
Currently they need:
- Non-perishable food including canned goods of soups and vegetables, pasta, etc.
-New and gently used clothing including men and women’s sweaters, sweatshirts, t-shirts, jeans (smaller sizes needed most), sweatpants, socks, shoes, etc.
-New Toiletries including soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shaving razors, etc.
Blaze Church is also beginning to collect new clothes and toys for children and teens for this holiday season. If you are able, please drop off any brand new toys and clothes.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity toward our neighbors!
