LongHouse Reserve’s Landscape Awards Luncheon, a celebration of outstanding landscape design and creativity, was held at the 16-acre Reserve in East Hampton on Saturday, September 16. Additionally, honorees Deborah Nevins, who was presented with the Landscape Award, and Kris Jarantoski, who was presented with the LongHouse Garden Direction Award, offered a pre-awards lecture at Hoie Hall at St. Luke’s Church in East Hampton beforehand. Ms. Nevins is a highly regarded landscape designer and the founder of a Manhattan-based eponymous firm that has been responsible for projects all over the world, most notably the Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center in Athens, Greece, and a number of significant green-roof plantings. Mr. Jarantoski is the outgoing executive vice president and director of the Chicago Botanic Garden. He was recognized for his efforts at building the Chicago Botanic Garden, which has 27 distinct gardens and four natural areas on a 385-acre campus. The biennial event was held in partnership with Garden Design magazine, which was honored with the Publication Award.
