An oceanfront Montauk beach house has sold for $15.6 million, making it one of the biggest sales of the year on The End.
The last asking price for 642 Old Montauk Highway was $17.9 million, according to the Corcoran listing. That’s a $2.3 million, or 12.8 percent, discount. However, it was initially listed for quite a bit more. According to the New York Post at the time, in July 2018 fashion titan Tomas Maier put the retreat on the market for $21 million.
According to The Real Estate Report Inc., the buyer was Zephyrus Partners LLC.
The residence was rebuilt in 2016 by Men at Work Construction and Robert Young Architect, according to the Corcoran listing. It sits high on bluffs, providing a 360-degree view. It has about 5,000 square feet with an open floor plan, four en-suite bedrooms, a powder room and more than 2,000 square feet of outdoor living space. All rooms have ocean views, Fleetwood windows and Dinesen oak floors. The chef’s kitchen has poured concrete countertops and top-of-the-line appliances. The home also has three gas fireplaces, a generator and central air conditioning, plus a partially finished basement with a laundry room and utility area.
The parcel is 1 acre and has 137 feet of oceanfront. LaGuardia Design did the grounds. A private walkway leads to a viewing deck and the beach. Also among the amenities are a two-car garage and a 55-foot heated gunite saltwater lap pool with ipe decking.
Also recently changing hands in Montauk, 50 Old West Lake Drive has been purchased for $3.8 million by Black Canyon Investments Qi LLC. The seller was another limited liability company. For $3.55 million, Scott W. Somerville sold 6 Tara Road to an LLC. For $3.2 million, an LLC bought 256 West Lake Drive from Rakesh Khilnani and Sandra Nemitz-Khilnani. And for an even $3 million, Karen and Jonathan Wesson bought 24 Washington Drive from Robin and Michael Valentino.
