The original owners of an oceanfront residence in Amagansett custom designed and built by Bill Hayes in 1994 recently sold for $7.95 million.

The 2-acre property at 9 Mitchell Dunes Lane is the site of a modern home that has three levels with 3,200 square feet on each, including a two-car garage and storage.

The master suite is on the main level, and there are six bedrooms in all, each en-suite. A den has a fire place, and the living room has floor-to-ceiling windows facing the ocean. The dining room is in a glass-in peninsula.

The sellers were Patricia and Robert Gussin, according to The Real Estate Report Inc.

The Gussins worked in medicine and medical research, including 25 years at Johnson & Johnson, according to Publisher’s Weekly. After retiring in 2000, for their “second act,” they became novelists and independent publishers with “one of the leading independent thriller houses,” Oceanview Publishing, based in Sarasota, Florida, and own two vineyards in Marlborough, New Zealand.

The new owners are Carol E. Levy, a Manhattan real estate agent, and her husband, Joel Goron.

The last listing price had been $8.95 million. Town & Country Real Estate represented the sellers in the deal, which closed on September 21.
