Bedell Cellars in Cutchogue Hits the Market

authorMichelle Trauring on Apr 17, 2019

Bedell Cellars is home to 75 acres of planted vines. They bear 10 varieties of sustainable grapes, grown in a unique maritime terroir, which has defined the Cutchogue vineyard’s signature style for the past 35 years.

But following the death of owner Michael Lynne on March 24, it is time for his family to leave — and sell — the nest.

Last week, Corcoran listed the North Fork icon for $17.9 million, represented by licensed associate real estate broker Gary DePersia. The sale will include 95 acres across three separate locations — including residential property — and ownership of the Bedell and Corey Creek brands and operations.

“It’s one of the premier wineries in the state of New York with amazing infrastructure — a true vertical operation that doesn’t come on the market very often,” DePersia said. “It feels like you were in Napa Valley. There are wine tastings, events and over 25 weddings a year held there.”

The main property, located at 36225 Route 25, includes vineyards, a tasting room, the production facility and equipment barn, as well as 4 undeveloped residential acres. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 1,800-square-foot cottage sitting on 2.6 acres is a Lynne family residence, available fully furnished with interior design by Vincent Wolf and landscaping by Ed Hollander.

On one of the separate locations, known as Corey Creek, another tasting room is available, as well as additional vines, also found on the 23-acre Wells Road property.

And as for the future buyer, DePersia imagines it will be “someone who loves the wine business, understands its potential, and has the wherewithal to make it happen.”

“This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity,” he said. “The late owner Michael Lynne had gone to great lengths and expense to make Bedell Cellars one of the foremost wineries of its kind in the Northeast. We have had people from as far away as France and California come to visit it and assess its potential for them. I urge anyone who has ever thought about having a winery to contact me for more information and for potential tour.”

Hamptons Rental Market Remains Alive and Well

To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of the demise of the Hamptons summer-rental market are greatly exaggerated. “Any hint that the Hamptons rental market is anything but robust is completely wrong,” said Corcoran associate broker Gary DePersia in East Hampton. An interesting dynamic is stirring in the Hamptons vacation-rental market. Although there has been an unprecedented rise in short-term rentals and the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic linger, it has been a bumper crop year for Wall Street, interest rates have remained steady and a new breed of demanding customer is emerging. Despite it all, the Hamptons vacation-rental market remains as ... 19 Jun 2025 by Joseph Finora
