Westhampton Beach resident Dawn Watson, an East End journalist and a former Douglas Elliman senior public relations manager for the Hamptons, the North Fork and Long Island, has joined Elliman’s Enzo Morabito Team.

In addition to being a licensed real estate agent, Ms. Watson is editor-at-large for Hamptons Real Estate Showcase, the host of LTV’s “Right Now! On the East End” and a former Southampton Press and East Hampton Press features editor. This summer she launched Hamptons Spa Sand, a line of eco-friendly bath and beauty products.

Enzo Morabito’s team, based in Bridgehampton and Westhampton Beach, has been the No. 1 Elliman team on the South Fork for more than a decade.

“Not everyone is fortunate enough to get their start in the business apprenticing with the very best,” Ms. Watson said. “It’s an honor to have this incredible opportunity and I’m beyond excited to learn everything this industry titan has to teach me.”

“Dawn is really dialed in on how to maximize exposure and get the word out with the media, the public and potential clients and customers,” Mr. Morabito said. “She provides a tremendous advantage in a very competitive field. So watch out!”

State Budget Proposal Would Apply Sales Tax To Vacation Rentals

Governor Andrew Cuomo’s proposed New York State budget calls for subjecting vacation rentals to the same state sales tax that applies to stays in hotels. If the measure is adopted, any rental on the South Fork for a period of fewer than 90 days will be costlier starting September 1. The bill aims to raise additional revenue for the cash-strapped state amid the pandemic and to level the playing field between hotels and vacation rental marketplaces, such as Airbnb and Vrbo.
