An East Hampton Village residence named the “Seaglass House” that recently went through a gut renovation by its art professional owner has sold for $5 million.
At 88 Meadow Lane, the 0.43-acre property hosts a 3,400-square-foot house with custom millwork, Miele appliances, Dornbracht fixtures and Lindsay Adelman lighting. The primary bedroom suite includes a full-size dressing room with a center island.
The outdoor amenities include a Tortorella built 45-foot heated gunite pool with an ipe patio surround, and a generous lawn area for activities. The property also comes with a two-car garage.
Sotheby’s International Realty was on both sides of the sale, with associate broker Kelly Nelson representing the seller and salesperson Nick Brown representing the buyer.
“It was less than three weeks from contract to closing, which is almost impossible these days,” Nelson said, adding that it is a record in her 25-year-plus real estate career.
The seller “was in a bit of a hurry, which really made it so simple for everyone, the seller and the buyer,” she recalled.
She noted that most buyers these days don’t want to do work — they want a turnkey home or something very close to that. She credited the seller with bringing the house down to the studs and refreshing the house. “It was done to the nines, to perfection,” with every detail a modern buyer would want, Nelson said.
“She knew what her buying audience needed,” she added.
The deal closed on August 19, according to Suffolk Vision Inc., which identified the seller as Susan Almrud. The new owner’s identity is shielded by a limited liability company.
