A circa 1925 Southampton Village residence named “Copper Beach” has found a buyer after two years on the market.

The property at 124 Herrick Road entered the market in the fall of 2017 for $12 million. The $8.5 million final sales price equates to a 29.2 percent discount from the initial offering. It was listed for $9 million at last ask.

It was a co-exclusive listing shared by Harald Grant of Sotheby’s International Realty and Douglas Elliman Real Estate.

The hedged parcel with a semi-circle driveway is 0.9 acre, and the home is 4,425 square feet. It comes with a 40-by-15-foot heated salt-filtrated pool and spa with a pool house, plus a sunken Har-Tru tennis court.

The residence has been renovated and now has seven bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and two half-baths.

The bluestone entry opens to a glass staircase. Across blondewood floors, the view continues through to the patios. One patio has an outdoor kitchen and dining area with a built-in barbecue. There’s also an outdoor living room with a fireplace, so it’s hard to imagine spending any time indoors. However, that’s where the formal dining room and the all-stainless chef’s kitchen with butler’s pantry are found.

The master suite, two guest suites and an office are on the second story, and the third floor offers two bedrooms, a recreation area and two full bathrooms.

The lower level is finished with two bedrooms, a bathroom, a family/media room, wine storage, an exercise room, a laundry room with double washers and dryers, and a half-bath.

Also among the amenities are home automation and an indoor-outdoor audio system.

The sellers were Ayla and Antonio Famos and the buyer was Babycatone LLC, according to The Real Estate Report Inc.

Also in the village, a 1-acre property at 300 Murray Place, just three properties removed from the ocean and with private beach access, has sold for $6.8 million.

The sellers were Alfred and John Geary and the Morton & Schley Family Trust, and the buyer was an anonymous LLC, according to The Real Estate Report Inc.

Corcoran’s Tim Davis had the listing. It was last asking $6.95 million.

This cottage is within the historic Murray Compound, which was originally a 250-acre oceanfront enclave, according to the listing, which notes that the property can accommodate a new 5,800-square-foot home. The existing shingle-style residence has four bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Hamptons Rental Market Remains Alive and Well

To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of the demise of the Hamptons summer-rental market are greatly exaggerated. “Any hint that the Hamptons rental market is anything but robust is completely wrong,” said Corcoran associate broker Gary DePersia in East Hampton. An interesting dynamic is stirring in the Hamptons vacation-rental market. Although there has been an unprecedented rise in short-term rentals and the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic linger, it has been a bumper crop year for Wall Street, interest rates have remained steady and a new breed of demanding customer is emerging. Despite it all, the Hamptons vacation-rental market remains as ... 19 Jun 2025 by Joseph Finora
