Saunders Broker Tapped For State Committees

author on Nov 21, 2014

Penelope Moore has been appointed to serve on two committees of the New York State Association of Realtors: the fair housing and cultural diversity committee, and the second-home, resort and global markets committee.

Ms. Moore heads the Shelter Island office of Saunders & Associates, which has offices in Bridgehampton and Southampton, as well as an East Hampton office set to open soon. With nearly $250 million in sales, she has been the leading real estate broker on Shelter Island since 1997, according to a press release from Saunders.

Ms. Moore will be the only Realtor from the Hamptons-North Fork area to serve on the fair housing and cultural diversity committee, Saunders said.

“I am honored and excited about the prospect of working with my peers from all over New York State,” Ms. Moore said in the release. “Fair housing, in particular, is a topic that has always been of particular interest to me. I look forward to making a contribution.”

The State Association of Realtors officially articulates its commitment to equal opportunity in housing, calling it “a fundamental right.”

“We are committed to working with the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Department of Justice, the New York State Department of State, the New York State Attorney General, the New York State Legislature and other organizations to promote fair housing to the public, the Member Boards/Associations of NYSAR and the individual members of this association,” it says. “We embrace the increasing multicultural societies that are changing the face of New York State and the nation. This association is committed to assisting our members to better interact with customers and … commit ourselves to understanding and accepting cultural diversity.”
