A recently completed Southampton residence just north of the village sold for $5.15 million, according to The Real Estate Report Inc. Back in January, it was seeking only $4.95 million.

The modern barn-style home with west-facing views of 80 acres of open-space reserves sits on a cleared 1-acre parcel bordered on three sides by specimen evergreens.

The house offers 7,300 square feet of living space in all, with 4,600 of that space above ground. The cedar exterior is charred in the shou sugi ban method for preservation, and the color matches the black standing seam roof.

The main floor’s 40-foot-by-30-foot double-height great room has a kitchen, a dining area, and living spaces that overlook the pool, pool house, and fields beyond through a 18-foot glass wall, according to the listing. A den or dining room and three en-suite bedrooms — including a junior master suite with walk-in closet and direct access to the saltwater gunite pool — round out the floor.

A central floating steel and glass staircase leads to the master wing with multiple custom closets, an extravagant bathroom, and sunsets visible from every angle, the listing states. A second staircase, accessible by a private entrance, leads to a private wing with a sitting room mezzanine that looks over the great room, plus an additional en-suite bedroom that can double as office space.

The lower level has 9-foot ceilings and two large distinct volumes with 27-foot unobstructed spans with a large sunny sunken courtyard at one end, plus a bedroom and full bath.

The buyer was Enrique Baena, according to The Real Estate Report Inc. The deal closed June 18.

Lylla D. Carter and Krae Van Sickle of Saunders & Associates had the listing.
