Suffolk Federal Offers Virtual First-Time Homebuyer Seminar

Brendan J. OReilly on Sep 11, 2020

Suffolk Federal Credit Union is offering a free virtual first-time homebuyer seminar this month, in both English and Spanish, as an alternative to traditional on-site workshops.

The English-language seminar will take place on Tuesday, September 22, and the Spanish-language version will follow on Wednesday, September 23. The start time both days is 6 p.m. and the seminar is an hour long.

The seminar is designed to prepare prospective homebuyers to manage the process with confidence, providing an abundance of information, focused on minimizing stress, according to Suffolk Federal.

“By adapting to a virtual delivery, we are able to support our community during this difficult process,” Suffolk Federal President and CEO Michele Dean said in a statement. “The platform allows the user to navigate the home buying process, consult with industry experts, and utilize tools and resources that are available at their fingertips.”

Participants will learn the benefits of homeownership and learn tips and tactics related to financing, budgeting, credit ratings and saving for a down payment. The seminar will also cover financing options and will identify resources pertaining to the real estate market, the mortgage process, and contracts.

To RSVP, contact Lisa Farrington at 631-924-8000 extension 8322 or lfarrington@suffolkfcu.org. For instructions on how to join, visit suffolkfcu.org/events. The meeting can be attended from a computer, tablet or smartphone.

Hamptons Rental Market Remains Alive and Well

To paraphrase Mark Twain, reports of the demise of the Hamptons summer-rental market are greatly exaggerated. “Any hint that the Hamptons rental market is anything but robust is completely wrong,” said Corcoran associate broker Gary DePersia in East Hampton. An interesting dynamic is stirring in the Hamptons vacation-rental market. Although there has been an unprecedented rise in short-term rentals and the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic linger, it has been a bumper crop year for Wall Street, interest rates have remained steady and a new breed of demanding customer is emerging. Despite it all, the Hamptons vacation-rental market remains as ... 19 Jun 2025 by Joseph Finora
