Mercedes-Benz of Southampton on County Road 39 in Southampton has been granted approval by the Southampton Town Planning Board for the construction of a significant expansion of the car dealership.

“The expansion will make the car dealership showroom a more welcoming place for customers,” said attorney John Bennett of Bennet & Read in Southampton, who is representing the dealership.

Plans for the expansion call for an additional 829 square feet of showroom space, as well as the construction of an enclosed vehicle drop-off area measuring 4,236 square feet, and a 2,622-square-foot service garage with five garage bays.

A storage area on the lower level of the dealership will be converted into 627 square feet of office space for training and conference rooms. The parking lot will be expanded by 145 stalls, meant for displaying vehicles—not necessarily to accommodate more potential customers and employees.

The project would amend the 19,000-square-foot luxury car dealership that was built up in 2010. The location had long been a dealer for Buick and BMW vehicles.

Hamptons Rental Market Remains Alive and Well

An interesting dynamic is stirring in the Hamptons vacation-rental market. Although there has been an unprecedented rise in short-term rentals and the aftershocks of the COVID-19 pandemic linger, it has been a bumper crop year for Wall Street, interest rates have remained steady and a new breed of demanding customer is emerging. Despite it all, the Hamptons vacation-rental market remains as ... 19 Jun 2025 by Joseph Finora
