Adelaide Boyle Hammill
Adelaide Boyle Hammill, formerly of Sag Harbor, died Friday, February 18, at Southampton Hospital. She was 73.
Ms. Hammill, always known by family and friends as “Del,” was born in New Jersey—one of nine children—to Alfred and Adelaide Viehmeyer. She was an active member of the Sag Harbor Chamber of Commerce in the 70s and was co-owner of the Cove Men Shop with Gerard J. Boyle and David and Vera Lee. She also served on the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sag Harbor Fire Department.
She blessed many with her unending acts of kindness as a 30 year member and sponsor of Alcoholics Anonymous, survivors said.
Ms. Hammill was predeceased by two husbands, Gerard J. Boyle and Gerard M. Hammill. She is survived by three daughters, Angela and her husband John Fisher, Diana and her husband Michael Horn, and Jayne and her husband Joel Freedman; 15 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday, February 20, at Yardley & Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. A funeral Mass was held Monday, February 21, at St. Andrew’s Church, followed by interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Coram.
