Albert H. LeCann of Amsterdam died October 2, 2017, at Albany Medical Center Hospital. He was 73.
Born in Long Island City, a son of Herve F. LeCann and Rita Louise Garnier, he grew up and attended school on Long Island. He was employed for 26 years as a corrections officer at the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office in Riverhead. After retiring, he and his wife, Barbara, moved to the Amsterdam, New York, area in 2008.
Mr. LeCann was a devoted Roman Catholic and was a Past Grand Knight and Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1967 in Southampton. He enjoyed boating and fishing and spending time with his wife and family.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara H. (Fox), whom he married on November 30, 1974; a brother, Marcel LeCann of Riverhead; two brothers-in-law, Robert (and Karen) Fox of Manorville and Larry (and Chris) Fox of Maryland; a dear friend, Sarah (and Michael) Gennett of Amsterdam; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral Mass was held held on October 7 at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church; interment followed in the church cemetery. F
