Former Hampton Bays resident Alicia E. Rose of East Quogue died on April 14. She was 91.
Born in her parents’ home in Kreidersville, Pennsylvania, on July 27, 1918, she graduated from the Southampton Nursing School in 1941 and found work as a registered nurse.
After completing post-graduate studies at Columbia University, she returned to Pennsylvania to work as a rural school nurse. In 1945, she relocated and worked at Southampton Hospital.
As an active member of the Hampton Bays Methodist Church, she devoted much of her energy to the United Methodist Women Society, the Thrift Shop and, according to family members, countless other church fairs and festivals.
Mrs. Rose is survived by her husband of 64 years, Robert Rose of East Quogue; three sons, Russell Rose of Riverhead, Roger Rose of Southold and John Rose of Water Mill; a daughter, Judith Rose of Hampton Bays; two sisters, Viola Meighan of New Hampshire and Eleanor Spengler of Texas; a daughter-in-law, Toni Rose of Tennessee; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A son, Robert Rose Jr. predeceased her.
The family received visitors on April 15 and 16 at J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. Funeral services were held on April 17 at the United Methodist Church in Hampton Bays, with interment following at Good Ground Cemetery, also in Hampton Bays.
