Surrounded by friends and family, Anthony “Tony” DelaCruz died on October 18 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhassett, after a five-year battle with leukemia. He was 45.
Born in 1964, Mr. DelaCruz lived and worked in Southampton as a landscaper. He was a lover of animals, especially cats, and was an avid horseman in adolescence. Survivors said this week that he was a dedicated family man and friend who was known and loved throughout the East End. He was a source of strength to many, they said, and will be dearly missed by all.
He is survived by his mother, Carol Greck of Southampton; his father, Rick DelaCruz of Florida; a close friend, Miche Francis of Southampton; a brother, Ed DelaCruz and his wife Alice of Southampton; a sister, Theresa Bruchman of Florida; a cousin, Risa Hebron of Queens; two nieces, Sydney and Sarah; and a nephew, Sam.
A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, November 21, from 1 to 4 p.m., at the North Sea Community House in North Sea.
