Antonina Dobies of Southampton died on May 2 at Southampton Hospital. She was 87.
Born March 17, 1923, in Kalisz, Poland, to Vincent and Cecylia Balcerzyk, she and her husband Peter Dobies moved to Southampton in 1952. She worked as a personal chef on an estate in Southampton for many years until her retirement. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, baking and sewing.
A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Veronica and Stephen McClain of Southampton, Regina and Fred Bertrand of Water Mill, and Christine and Robert N. Davis of Virginia; three granddaughters, Lisa Bertrand of Southampton, Pamela Pruitt and her husband Chuck of Virginia, and Patricia Sites and her husband Kenny of Virginia; two grandsons, Michael McClain and his wife Andrea of Buffalo, and Fred P. Bertrand of Maryland; two great-granddaughters, Jessia Pruitt and Elizabeth Sites; and a great-grandson, Joshua Sites.
The family received visitors on May 5 at O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral mass officiated by Father Stanley Kondeja was held on May 6 at Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton. Interment followed at the Sacred Hearts Cemetery, also in Southampton.
