Benjamin F. Marcune of Southampton died at Stony Brook University Medical Center Sunday, April 3. He was 87.

Mr. Marcune was born in Brooklyn in 1923 to Jose and Agnes Marcune. He married Maria D’Agostino and together they operated Ben-Mar Beauty Salon in Brooklyn. He later moved to Southampton with his family where he was a resident for more than 50 years.

Mr. Marcune is survived by his wife Maria; three children, Janet Chandler and Patricia Zelinski of Southampton and Benjamin F. Marcune Jr. of New Jersey; two brothers, Patrick Marcune of Staten Island, Benjamin “Bill” Marcune of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Jo Raquel Stoup of California and Tonia Marcune of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Jason Chandler, David Zelinski, Elizabeth Zelinski and Victoria Marcune; and great-grandchildren, Emma and Max Chandler. He was predeceased by his sister Vivian DiCapua.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 5, at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, April 6, at Our Lady of Poland Roman Catholic Church in Southampton. Interment followed with full military honors at Calverton National Cemetery.

Dora Lillian Williams of Hampton Bays died on May 13 on Quiogue. She was 89. A viewing was held Tuesday, May 20, from 10-11 a.m., with a home-going service at 11 a.m. at the Southampton Full Gospel Church. Interment followed at Southampton Cemetery. by Staff Writer

Snake Hollow Road Closure Rescheduled to Tuesday

Due to inclement weather, the final paving work for the Snake Hollow railroad crossing originally scheduled for Friday, May 16, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 20, when Snake Hollow Road in Bridgehampton will be closed to all except local traffic.
