Betty Foster Greene of Bridgehampton died at the Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Southampton on Monday, November 28. She was 85.

A descendant of a long line of East End families, her mother was Kathleen Foster of Water Mill and her father was Percy Hildreth of Sagaponack. She met her husband, George N. Greene of Rhode Island, while he was stationed at Camp Hero in Montauk in 1945, and they were married in 1946.

She is survived by a brother, Robert Hildreth of East Hampton; two sons, George Greene Jr. of Southampton Shores and Gary Greene of Bridgehampton; a daughter, Susan Leonard of Southampton; three granddaughters, Marianne Fernendes, Meredith O’Leary, and Nicole Leonard; and three great-grandchildren, Phoenix, Raven and Isabella. She was predeceased by her husband and a sister, May Cozzens.

A memorial service was held at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton on Thursday, December 1.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Southampton Town Animal Shelter.

QUOGUE — Quogue Village Police arrested Steven Failla, 48, of Quogue on May 3 at 12:14 a.m. at Jessup Avenue and charged him with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. The officers were responding to a physical dispute at a residence on Jessup Avenue. Officers on scene performed an investigation and subsequently arrested Failla, as the victim of the assault sustained a physical injury to a hand, police said. Gintaras Satas, 58, of Mastic was arrested at about 11:30 p.m. on May 2 and charged with misdemeanor DWI and several vehicle and traffic violations after the vehicle he was driving nearly struck a Southampton Town Police car that was on the side of Montauk Highway in Water Mill with its lights on conducting a traffic stop of another vehicle.
