Carmen J. Pizzarello of Southampton died on December 29 at her home. She was 94.

Born in Danbury, Connecticut, on May 11, 1915, to Donato and Mary Burtaccio, she was the second of three children. She attended local schools in Danbury and pursued a degree in education at Danbury State Teachers College. Following her accreditation, she taught in Poughkeepsie.

In 1940, she returned to Danbury and worked in the family business until her marriage to Albert Pizzarello in 1948. The couple lived in Port Chester until 1955, when they moved to Shinnecock Hills and built the Ocean View Terrace Motel. Mr. Pizzarello died in 1960 and the motel was sold in 1965. During the time it took to sell the motel, Mrs. Pizzarello worked at the Board of Cooperative Educational Services office in Riverhead. Then she moved to Port Chester and worked in the local school system.

After retiring in 1979, she returned full time to the East End. She became the clerk of the Tuckahoe School Board and worked at the Suffolk County Organization for the Promotion of Education (SCOPE) office. An active communicant at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, she served as president of the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing bridge, travel and painting.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Louis Pizzarello and his wife Dr. Elizabeth Shane of Remsenburg; a grandson, Daniel; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on December 30 at the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. A mass of Christian Burial was held on December 31 at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church in Southampton, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
