Carol M. Huber of Vero Beach, Florida, and Remsenburg died at home on May 11, 2017. She was 75.
Ms. Huber was born September 21, 1941, in Connecticut, grew up primarily in Garden City, graduating from Garden City High School. She was a graduate of Marymount College, and taught elementary school for a time before settling down to raise her family.
In 1998, she became a McDonald’s franchisee, and received many awards and accolades for her service to her community. She headed various franchisee committees and was a well-respected entrepreneur.
Ms. Huber was a longtime member of the Westhampton Country Club, Grand Harbor Country Club, Swordfish Beach Club, and Westhampton Yacht Squadron. She was actively involved in numerous charities, including the Indian River Hospital Foundation, Remsenburg Academy, Remsenburg Garden Club, East End Hospice, and Indian River Habitat for Humanity. Survivors said that her passion was to advance causes that would benefit others.
Ms. Huber is survived by three children, John Floegel of Westhampton and wife Christine, Suzanne Floegel of Maryland, and Scott Floegel of Virginia and wife Jody. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Johnny, Catie, Jason, Ellen, Evan, Alex, Brooke, Ryan and Matthew; nephews and nieces, including Greg Moller and his four children, and Heather Moller and her three children; and a brother, Richard Moller; and sister Pamela Karemen, and their children.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Huber; her first husband, John Floegel; a brother, Greg Moller; and her parents, Richard and Ruth Moller.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 3, at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Quiogue, followed by a gathering at the Westhampton Yacht Squadron. All are welcome to attend.
